How to choose the right grinding wheel bond?
What is a grinding wheel bond?
It is a material that bonds abrasive particles together. It gives the grinding wheel specific structural properties and affects the strength,
toughness and durability of the grinding tool. Different types of bonds are suitable for different processing scenarios.
Common bonds include resin bond, vitrified bond,
metal bond, electroplating bond, and brazing bond,
1. Resin bond
Resin bond is a commonly used type of grinding wheel bond, known for its flexibility and versatility.
Advantages:
--Good toughness and strong impact resistance.
--Excellent cutting performance, suitable for rough and fine processing of molds and gauges.
--Easy to trim, meeting the needs of complex shape processing.
--Good polishing effect, suitable for processing with high finish requirements.
--Lower cost (compared to ceramic bond), high cost performance.
Disadvantages:
--Poor high temperature resistance, easy to soften due to temperature increase.
--Poor thermal stability, long-term use may age and affect life.
--Easy to clog, grinding efficiency may be affected.
Applicable scenarios:
Rough and fine processing of tools, gauges, molds, and cutting tools.
