Characteristics and applications of resin abrasive
Resin abrasives are organic abrasives. Organic abrasives are characterized by a wide range of uses, a certain degree of elasticity, high bonding strength, and good polishing performance. It is used in coarse, fine, fine, polishing and other grinding processes. Its resin grinding tools have the following characteristics:
1. High bonding strength Compared with ceramic bonding, resin bonding has high bonding strength. Its resin grinding wheel has a grinding linear speed of 80~120m/s and can withstand greater grinding pressure. The heavy-duty grinding wheel has a grinding pressure of up to 10×104~40×104N and is widely used in the steel industry, such as various steel ingots, billets and other waste grinding processes. Rough grinding processes such as high-speed and heavy-duty special grinding wheels are safe to operate, suitable for high-speed grinding and large-feed grinding, and have high grinding efficiency.
2. It has a certain elasticity and has good toughness, plasticity and ductility compared to ceramic abrasives and resin abrasives. Its elastic modulus (E) is dozens of times lower than that of ceramics. Therefore, resin abrasive tools are suitable for preparing various specifications of flake grinding wheels and high-speed cutting grinding wheels. At the same time, due to certain elastic deformation, the effect of grinding force can be buffered. Therefore, the grinding effect is good, the polishing effect is achieved, and the roughness of the machined surface can be improved.
3. Abrasive tools with various complex shapes and special requirements can be made: Since resin bonded abrasive tools have a low hardening temperature, can be hardened at room temperature, and have a small shrinkage rate, they can be made into abrasive tools with various complex shapes and special requirements. For example: glass fiber reinforced resin grinding wheels, porous resin grinding wheels and grooved grinding wheels that are easy to remove chips and have good heat dissipation; bolt-fastened grinding wheels, electrolytic grinding wheels, polishing grinding wheels that improve grinding process conditions; and barrel and bowl Shaped, butterfly and other special-shaped grinding wheels.
4. Wide scope of application: Due to the wide variety of new resin binders, resin grinding tools with various strengths and properties can be made. Therefore, it can be widely used in rough grinding, rough grinding, cutting, semi-fine grinding, fine grinding, polishing and other processes. Resin abrasives have high bonding strength, high speed of use, impact resistance, and are suitable for rough grinding and waste grinding. Resin abrasives have good toughness and are suitable for cutting processes. Resin abrasives have good elasticity and have certain polishing properties and can be used For fine grinding and polishing. Resin abrasive tools have low heat resistance and are easy to wear, so they are suitable for surface grinding and fine grinding.
5. Helps prevent burns on the workpiece being ground. The resin bond has low heat resistance and can reduce or avoid burns on the workpiece. The heat generated by the workpiece during the grinding process first carbonizes the resin, causing the passivated abrasives to fall off automatically, exposing new sharp abrasive grains, reducing the heat in the grinding area and avoiding burns to the workpiece.
6. The hardening temperature of resin abrasive tools is low, the production cycle is short, and the equipment is simple, which is conducive to professional production. The shortcomings are:
(1) Resin abrasive tools have poor alkali resistance and water resistance, and are prone to aging. The general effective storage period is one year. Therefore, it cannot be stored for long periods of time.
(2) The heat resistance of resin abrasive tools is low, and the wear is relatively large during grinding processing, so they are not suitable for shaped grinding.
(3) Resin abrasive tools have low porosity and smell during processing, so attention should be paid to environmental pollution issues.
